Turnkey Product Development

A cabin designed for all-nighters. That’s better.

For the Indian market, owning a backhoe loader is a family affair. Operators might travel for weeks at a time to work on construction projects – so only the very best will do. With global experience developing ground-up machines for the Indian market, Tata Technologies was a natural fit.

Challenge

The client, a leading provider of construction equipment and services, wanted a cutting-edge backhoe loader that would increase its market share in India.

Solution

Tata Technologies took on the complete development and system integration of a machine that would not only prove a solid investment in terms of reliability and fuel-efficiency, but also delight customers by catering to their every need.

We knew these customers often work away from home, so we designed a cabin big enough to sleep in. Crucial for a continent as diverse as India, it can withstand a range of temperatures and altitudes. And because these machines are sometimes called upon to “duck walk”, we built a mechanism to allow that.

We future-proofed the design to accommodate fluctuations in material availability, and the advanced electronics this market is transitioning to.

The backhoe loader launched in 2019 is functionally better, greener and more aesthetically pleasing than anything else on offer – a result reflected in a 120% increase in sales.
